EXPO 2020 Dubai

For my co-curricular activity I chose to use a field trip to Expo 2020 Dubai because it represents each country and their culture. Each pavilion showcases the state's identity by illustrating all aspects of its heritage, from art to food. I was specifically interested in using this as my enrichment activity because it portrays how the world views each state's identity and heritage and it shows us how the state itself views its own national identity. I visited the Egyptian pavilion because I was very intrigues  to see if there are any manifestations of the Coptic cultural heritage in any tangible or intangible form. Unsurprisingly, there was nothing relating to Coptic culture. Although it was disappointing to see the clear exclusion of the rich Coptic heritage, it helped to clearly outline how the state defines Egyptian culture thus shaping how Egyptian culture is viewed by outsiders.
